I was frantically searching for hot water bottle, and there it is, number 56. The hot water bottles L and I have received from my parents the last few years are probably the most-used Xmas gifts we’ve received in our adult lives! Lap blankets are great too.
Yes, hot water bottles are great! Last year I gave someone a hot water bottle cover that I knitted (I knew they already had a bottle). I used this pattern: http://www.yarnagogo.com/bawk_hot_water_bottle_coz/
Many of your ideas are really good. #21 - magazine subscription. I like giving magazine subscriptions because they keep coming throughout the year. Also, it’s good when I don’t know much about the person’s hobby so I can’t buy them equipment for it (hunting or cooking or crochet or video games or whatever).

Along with notecards (item 2), how about a packet of postage stamps instead of a pen? Most people have pens around the house, but they may not have enough stamps.
Many of these items would also make great housewarming gifts!I will have to save this list for future reference.
A friend of mine had an idea of making a Glow in the Dark Vase by inserting multiple colors of glow necklaces into a transparent glass vase, which is pretty inexpensive to do.
Great list! Love it. You can check out 101 Ways to Save Time, Money and Sanity here http://www.tabletucker.com.au/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=239&Itemid=255
I was shopping online yesterday trying to buy for my son a Super Mario Bros Game.. I stumbled upon a site called EZWINGAME…they are running a free contest this week for a free Nintendo… Wanted to know if anyone has heard of this site..and what they think…thanks
I might as well consider these things for Christmas: notecards and pen, posh chocolates, mug, pair of wine glasses, diary, address book, travel pillow and usb fan. These are great christmas gift ideas. Thanks
