I’m a reader of pro-blogger, and the latest videocast over there is about leveraging compound growth on your blog. Darren explains that to stop yourself feeling despondent, concentrate on the direction and the percentage change in your blogging stats rather than the absolute numbers.
Of course on a blog, especially a new one, you can grow at a significant rate in months rather than years, but I think extending the same thought process to your money is a good one. Don’t worry as much about the absolute values, as the direction you are taking and with the magic of compounding you can get a lot further than you think.
I realize that this is not the topic of the post, but I really hate it when my subscriber numbers go down…
Guess you could call that negative compounding.
I don’t like that either. Although the numbers of commentators keeps increasing, and that’s more interesting anyway.
I read the same article earlier this week. I agree, it is a good way to look at things. I look at my sitemeter and I see things are generally looking up, so I feel good about it. I’m not too concerned with viral growth. A slong as my blog keeps its steady trend, I am happy. The same goes for my money.
