I got my latest mobile phone bill in the post. I made 157 minutes of calls, 12 text messages and I downloaded 1.8MB of data. The whole thing cost me £63.
Thats a lot of money, especially as I only used 40 of my inclusive minutes. I’ve been forgetting that the inclusive minutes are only for off-peak any network calls, and also that they don’t include my telephone banking number.
I’m switching to a T-Mobile package that is more flexible - the key thing being that the cross-network minutes are any time. It also has cheaper line rental, which is good considering that actually I don’t use my phone all that much. In addition I signed up through a cashback site so that if IÂ can remember to send all the bills in on time, it could cost me nothing for the whole year. Even if I forget, its still a stonking great deal.
Wow! I guess mobiles are much more expensive in the UK than here in the States. I only spend about $38/mo. (20 quid or so). It’s so cheap, my wife and I don’t even have a regular house phone, we only use our mobiles. Hers costs about the same amount per month. We have cable internet, hence no need for land line phone.
When I lived in the UK (2000-2003), I used a pay-as-you-go, but I didn’t talk much. It was the best deal for me at the time.
Unsurprising really as lots of things are more expensive here than elsewhere. I could probably get away with a PAYG phone but I like the security of the contract one, especially as I’ve been using it as my main phone.
